Description

Students reflect and provide feedback on key takeaways from the lesson using a structured format to identify what resonates most.

Preparation

Select a specific focus for students to reflect and provide feedback on that connects to your learning objective, theme, or unit of study.

Implementation

Distribute a What Stuck with You? handout to each student. Tell students they will reflect on today’s lesson by answering specific questions about what resonated with them. Suggest that students spend no more than about 1 minute on each question, and give students about 5 minutes to complete the handout. If time permits, invite two or three volunteers to share one of their responses during the final few minutes of the activity.

Teaching Tips

Briefly model responses to clarify expectations, and emphasize the importance of honest student feedback to help you plan future instruction.
Collect and review feedback to inform your teaching and identify concepts that need reinforcement.
Consider creating a “feedback wall” where students can post their responses anonymously on sticky notes to foster a classroom culture that values reflection and continuous improvement.

Supporting All Learners

For students who need additional support: Provide students with sentence starters (e.g., “I was surprised when…” or “I feel confident about…”).

For advanced learners: Encourage students to explain why certain content resonated with them and how they might apply it.

For multilingual learners: Allow students to write their responses in their home languages, or provide students with key vocabulary in advance.

Note: Provide accommodations and modifications based on your learners’ needs to ensure full participation.
