Materials:
Model a brief response using clear, student-friendly language, and review key ideas from the lesson. Allow 5 minutes for students to complete their responses, either on the handout or on their own paper. Then invite students to share their ideas with a partner or small group. If displaying the handout, consider writing students’ responses around the prompt on the display, or invite students to write their responses on the display themselves.
Teaching Tips
For students needing additional support: Ask a more general question such as “What is something you already know and could teach your classmates?” (e.g., how to bake cookies).
For advanced learners: Invite students to create a step-by-step plan for how they would teach a skill or concept to others.
For multilingual learners: Pair students with supportive peers, and provide sentence starters such as “Something new I learned today is…” to help initiate responses, or invite students to respond in their home languages.
Note: Provide accommodations and modifications based on your learners’ needs to ensure full participation.
